How to Prepare for Your Bridal Hair and Makeup Appointment
Updated: 27 minutes ago
Your wedding morning should be a special moment to enjoy, not something to stress about. A little preparation beforehand can help everything run smoothly and give us the perfect starting point for creating your bridal look.
I've put together a few tips to help you prepare your skin, hair and yourself for our appointment. Don't worry if you can't do everything on the list — these are simply recommendations to help you feel your best!
Hair preparation
For beautiful, long-lasting styling, I usually recommend washing your hair the evening before your wedding or on the morning of our appointment, whichever works best for you. Clean hair can hold a hairstyle beautifully when properly prepared, so there's no need to leave it unwashed in the hope that it will hold better.

Here's what works best:
Wash your hair with your usual shampoo and conditioner.
Dry it thoroughly with a blow dryer rather than letting it air-dry. Ideally, your hair should be completely dry when I arrive.
Feel free to use your regular hair products, but try not to apply too much heavy oil or styling product, as it can weigh your hair down.
Thinking about changing your hair before the wedding? I'd recommend planning any haircuts or colour changes well in advance, especially if you're trying something new or visiting a new hairstylist. A fresh cut can change how your hair falls, and a new colour may turn out differently than expected. Giving yourself some time means you'll have the opportunity to make adjustments if needed.
Skin preparation
You don't need an elaborate skincare routine to get your skin ready for bridal makeup. The main goal is to keep it comfortable, hydrated and happy!
In the days leading up to your wedding, your usual skincare routine is a great place to start. If you'd like to exfoliate, you can gently do so the evening before using a mild scrub or enzyme powder. Just avoid strong peels or harsh exfoliants that could leave your skin irritated, red or dry.

On the morning of our appointment, you can follow your regular routine:
Cleanse your face and apply your usual moisturiser.
If you wear sunscreen, apply it as usual and allow it to absorb before we begin.
If your lips tend to get dry, a nourishing lip balm in the days before the wedding can help keep them soft and smooth.
It's also worth being mindful of excessive sun exposure in the days before your wedding, as sunburn can leave your skin feeling sensitive and make makeup application more challenging.
Getting ready for the big day

A few little preparations can make your wedding morning feel even more relaxed.
The evening before: You might like to prepare a comfortable outfit that's easy to take off without pulling it over your head, such as a robe or button-up shirt. It's also helpful to keep your veil, hair accessories and any other special items together so they're easy to find when we need them.
On the morning: If possible, enjoy some breakfast before we start and keep water nearby.
Wedding mornings can be exciting and busy, but having something to eat can help you feel energised throughout the day.
If we're getting ready at your home or hotel, a comfortable space with good light, a nearby power outlet and enough room for my makeup and hair tools is always appreciated. And when planning your schedule, leaving a little extra time for getting dressed, photos and unexpected delays can help you enjoy the morning without feeling rushed.
One last thing: if you have any allergies, skin sensitivities or products that don't work well for you, please let me know before our appointment. That way, I can prepare accordingly and make sure we're as comfortable as possible.
Most importantly, enjoy the moment!
You don't need perfect skin, perfect hair or a perfectly planned morning for your bridal look to be beautiful. My job is to enhance your natural features and create a look that makes you feel confident, radiant and, most importantly, like yourself.
Take what works for you from these tips, and don't stress about the rest. I'll take care of your hair and makeup, so you can relax, enjoy the experience and look forward to your special day.
I can't wait to create your beautiful bridal look! ♡
